Dedicated to the memory of Roger Osborn

This site is a tribute to Roger Osborn, who was born in Southgate on December 26 1941 and passed away peacefully on 20th January 2019.

Roger was a beloved Dad, Grandad and a good friend to so many people. He was a huge part of the Haynes community where he lived for 40 years.

Roger was diagnosed with small cell bladder cancer in early 2018 and received much of his treatment and care at the Primrose Unit, Bedford Hospital. There he got to know many of the nurses, his wonderful oncology specialist and everyone who worked and volunteered there. He was always so positive throughout all of his treatments and had only good things to say after each visit. He fought his battle with cancer always with a smile on his face and had spoken himself about wanting to make a donation to the Primrose Unit to show his sincere appreciation for all that they did for him and continue to do for others.

Roger was taken in to Bedford Hospital two weeks prior to losing his battle with cancer after a rapid deterioration. He stayed at the hospital for 10 days before he was given a place at the wonderful Sue Ryder, St Johns Hospice at Moggerhanger.

Roger was at St Johns for 4 days where the nurses and all staff gave him the most dignified and personal care that we as a family could have wanted for him, in a beautiful setting. He was able to listen to his 'Frank Sinatra' and to have his family and very close friends beside him until he passed away peacefully. The hospice not only provided care and support for Roger but for his family and friends too and we will always be grateful that he could spend his last few days here.

The Primrose Unit (Bedford Hospital Research & Education Fund) and Sue Ryder, St Johns are very much charities close to our hearts and so we would like to raise money for them, in memory of Roger. We would be really grateful for any donations to either of these charities, which you can do via this page by clicking on the 'donate' button.

We have set up this page as a tribute to Roger so as well as accepting donations for our chosen charities we would like to remember him with pictures, messages, memories, videos or music. If you have anything you would be able to share with us please add to the page (we do approve it first so don't worry if it doesn't appear straight away).

Roger was loved by so many and always brought sunshine to our lives each and every day.
